Project 52 | Week 38 | Memorial

We miss you.
You're finally at peace.
We love you.
Shine your grace down upon us.

It only took 5 minutes to lay her ashes to rest on top of my father's casket.  It was almost eerie to hear the small box hit the casket cement, but nice to think they're together and watching us.  My mom's husband Bob was awesome and we still managed to honor my mom's wishes: don't make a big deal and don't cry.

And Lloyd went over to the grave stone and quietly put his hands on it and was standing there just staring at it.  Our frenzied toddler suddenly sober, like he knew he was in the presence of his grandparents.  His namesake.  The pictures might be odd for some people but they make me smile in a heartbreaking way.  He's so much of his grandfather and he will never know him.  Hopefully he will have some of his grandmother's unwavering faith within him.  Be strong bubba.

Mommy Diary: 15 Months

Developments This Month
  • More words.
  • So stinking animated it is hilarious.
  • Officially out of all his 18 month shirts and john-john's, only 2T shirts.  Still some 18 month pants/shorts.
  • Size 5/6 shoes (big feet!).
  • Down to only one nap.
Every day with this little guy is fun.  He is hilarious.  He dances. He laughs at himself.  He's mischievous.  Oh is he trouble some days!!  But he's so worth it and for the most part he is super super affectionate and sweet.  But he does have those boy days when he laughs at the word no, hits, throws everything, and is a ball of destruction.  Thankfully those days aren't very frequent.

He also has had his first time somewhere without me. Or family.  I left him at the church nursery last week for 2 hours while I went to my MOMS group.  He cried and cried, I could hear him all the way to my study.  He didn't get down and play the whole time, just cuddled up on the lady and laid on her.  But at least he didn't cry longer than 5 minutes.  He wouldn't let me put him down for a while.  We go every Wednesday though, so hopefully it'll get better. He loves to play.

We also started going to toddler time at our city activity center 2 weeks ago and he loves it.  He runs around tossing the balls, climbing on the blocks, crawling through tubes, and sharing toys with other girls.  Such a flirt.  He's always exhausted when we leave so it's a struggle to keep him awake long enough to get home, eat lunch, and make it to his normal nap time around 2.  But those days he has the most wonderful naps.  Lots of sewing gets done those days. :)  He's just so sweet.
grape face, trying to get him to sit still :)

Project 52 | Week 37 | Traditional

After many requests, some old family recipes were pulled out.
Coach is happy.
Mommy is glad to cook--by herself.
Some tasty seasonal treats are on the shelves.

Friday afternoon I canned Coach's Grandmothers yellow squash relish, he's been asking for it for ages (probably the entire time we've been married). But because I got the pint jars it only made 2.5 jars with the half recipe I made. I also made my moms jalapeƱo jelly, which is perfect to bring to holiday parties. I wish I had a pressure canner though; it's what you are really supposed to use to can vegetables. But these won't be in the pantry long enough to spoil anyway. I REALLY wish I had my Moms spicy green bean recipe. I cannot find it anywhere in her books and recipe boxes. Super disappointing.

I thought it would be easier to do this project every week. Obviously not. Coming up is also Lloyds late monthly photo, that's late because getting a photo of him is near impossible! So goofy.

Project 52 | Week 36 | Toys

Suddenly he understands.
Plays with them and puts them together.
Actually learning and understanding.
Overnight it seems that he's putting his puzzles together, figuring out the shape cube, and stacking toys.  He's following directions so well and starting to grasp all this knowledge we've thrown at him the past 15 months.  Incredible.
